Today Andrew finally gets to talk to you about Samsung’s 850 EVO that launched today! Their new M.2 (and mSATA) drives are pretty awesome, although they are still handicapped by that sata bottleneck, as the drive is an M.2 Sata drive. But still, none the less, having a surface mount 250GB ssd on your board as a boot drive or cache is insanely cool!

wow I have the standard SATA version & im getting reads around 530MB/s & writes of about 493MB/s and im on an older AM3+ 970 motherboard so to me this looks like the m.2 version is slower
Do you still have it? 🙂
Is this good for intel nuc8 i7 (NUC 8 VR NUC8I7HVK Gaming Mini PC
)
Is it compatible with the Dell xps 13 ?
What the hell is up with the terrible intro music mate
i have super slow hdd and id like to get a ssd and just move everything on it , how would that work?
Ahh no…U get a standoff with your motherboard on witch you screw your m.2 ssd
Being green is the deal breaker
The missing m.2 standoff makes me cringe, hard.
is the rapid mode is on for test in this video?
I always wonder how hot M.2 sata SSDs get compared to pcie m.2 SSDs, also how hot does this SSD get?
PLEASE HELP IM GOING CRAZY & NOBODY ON GOOGLE CAN HELP ME. I have the – Aspire E 15 E5-575-33BM 15.6-Inch Full HD Notebook (Intel Core i3-7100U Processor 7th Generation , 4GB DDR4, 1TB 5400RPM Hard Drive, Intel HD Graphics 620, Windows 10 Home) Which DEFINATELY accepts M.2 ssd or 2.5 ssd so PLEASE save yourself the time of saying your not sure my PC can even use m.2 because I Promise you it can & does (Thanks you & I only mention that because 75 other people trying to help kept saying it doesn't accept m.2 ! YES it does ! LOL) my problem is I installed the drive I used Samsung magician for the cloning process everything appears to have went well until I start the computer ! I cant get it to run windows or anything ! I went in Bios switched boot order moving SSD to top and HDD #2 and it still boots off the HDD !!!! I went in disk management and it shows the new SSD as (G)Drive & the HDD as (C) Drive no matter what I do ! can someone ,anyone PLEASE help me & walk me through this in TODDLER language ,I'm really irritated its been 4 days & I still haven't had a chance to see the speed & power of new SSD…THANNK YOU ALL VERY MUCH
PS. I WANT MY NEW SSD TO RUN WINDOWS,POSSIBLY GOPRO EDITING HARDWARE AND I WANT MY ONBOARD HDD TO USE AS STORAGE ,MUSIC/VIDS/ETC ….TY
According to the AS SSD screen in your video, it seems the speeds are actually in megabytes per second, not megabits, as would normally be indicated by the MB/s (as opposed to Mb/s) So great review, and unless I am wrong, even better speeds than first thought. Also just like to point out, ordinarily there would be a riser installed in the motherboard to ensure the drive is installed parallel to the board. A sloping installation will put extra strain on the socket and the drive, though probably not enough to be concerned about.
will it work for asus z170a progaming mobo?
I want to know, would it be possible put it in an asus gl552vx-cn067t?. In the page main of asus say can it have up to 256gb . that is unnecessary for me I want to have my ssd m. 2 with 500gb , can I?
Can I install it reversed? There is two notches I see. Other side looks better 😀
Ugly, they should have use a black PCB instead.
How do I copy an existing Dell XPS 8900 Win 7 pro HDD C drive to this one INCLUDING recovery partitions to replace the HDD as the C drive? The Samsung software won't do this it seems…
My windows 10 cant see the new M.2 ssd any idea why ?
i am installing it in asus gl552vx laptop but i need that retaining screw.can you help me out what is that screw ? is it m2X3mm screw or something other,.
They are all low profile except those which are vertical. Without screw from the bottom there is a risk of failure, but ventilation is deteriorating.
No offense, but you're an idiot? Under the Board itself must have a bolt, not just top be screwed.
I've got the Asus GL552VW gaming laptop, good machine and the specs are good enough for the games I play.
I'ts only a couple months old but I have some small problems with turning the pc off and with closing and opening the lit.
This laptop got an extra slot to build in a m2 ssd, would you recommend me doing that? I would put my windows and maybe some games on it.
Cheers!
With your bear hands….. Dude please. Use gloves for 2 cent. You want to be professional act like one.
Hi pls tell me if I can upgrade my HP Envy 17-U018CA with it.
Thanks
Usually, with the MBs comes a small riser that you screw in the screw holder and then you use the screw on top of the riser. In that way there is space below the M.2 driver. The driver should not touch the surface underneath.
For example you can see the riser on this PCIe card, but it's just the same thing on the MB.

megabits per second is it ? 🙂 I have an old 486 from 1995 with a 20MB hard drive that can beat the pants off of that speed 🙂
Lets get away from loud terrible intro music please. Otherwise thanks for the video it was informative
Did you forgot to put the spacer at 2280 emplacent before just put the screw ???
That con is like the IGN Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire review. "Too much water"
Will this fit on a Z170i Pro Gaming M.2 Slot?
I have an ssd like that but I don't have that port and windows is on it so I don't know how I'm gonna get windows on my new build
Hi, do you know the exactly size of the screw for the support of the ssd? Thanks!!
what do u use to light the motherboard? a softbox led?
What does it form factor 2260 or 2280?
my mobo(MSI H97M G43) has the following specification—- M.2 Slot: 1 x 2280 Key M(PCIe Gen2 x2/SATA)
is my mobo supported?
Is it ok to leave the sticker on?
Please Help !! This one works on ASUS N751JK Laptop ???
Should I enable rapid mode on this ssd ? are there any benefits when rapid mode is enabled ?
